We were tasked with designing a 47,000 square-foot, two-story courthouse located in Aberdeen, Mississippi. The goal was to create a cutting-edge complex in the heart of the city that would support the state’s Northern District government operations.
The facility houses two state-of-the-art courtrooms and judge’s chambers, space for clerk of the court and other bankruptcy operations, in addition to dedicated sectors for U.S. trustee and U.S. marshal offices. Both the interior and exterior design is classical in concept, utilizing brick and precast concrete to emphasize the stature and stability of the federal government and reflect the importance of the facility.
