The Sylvia H. Rambo U.S. Courthouse is a $148 million, 242,000 sf Federal Courthouse completed in 2023. The eleven-story building houses eight courtrooms and chambers: five District, two Magistrate, and one Bankruptcy, as well as support space for the District Clerk, US Attorneys, Probation, US Marshal, and US trustee. The site for the building is located on the corner of 6th and Reily Street in the Midtown neighborhood of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
CGL’s AOR Justice team, (now NELSON Worldwide), teamed with Ennead Architects on the design and construction of the project. Our involvement spans various aspects, including building organization, courtroom design, mock-ups, chamber layout, and tenant fit-out from concept design through construction administration. The design of the overall building and in particular that of the courtrooms is infused with natural light and views of the surrounding areas. The team has also taken the lead in designing and selecting the court’s furniture as part of the Furniture Acquisition Plan scope.
