CRRC was the first new railcar manufacturing facility since the Pullman car in about 40+ years. The new manufacturing facility sits on about 45 acres in the Chicago Hegewisch neighborhood located in the southeast side of Chicago. This new manufacturing facility is approximately 380,944 SF and was put on a “fast track” process as it would be providing approximately 170 new manufacturing jobs for the area and the city by 2019. International collaboration was on the project as the parent company is based in China, and the equipment engineers are from Germany. The facility is the for the construction of the next generation of CTA railcars.

CRRC provides the construction & assembly of the railcar bodies, wheel trucks all the way through the design, construction & assembly of the interior finishes to provide local riders with a safe and comfortable environment on their city commutes.

CRRC also conducts the final tests of weatherability and track readiness of the railcars before delivery to the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority).
