Central Mutual Insurance (Central), a leading property and casualty insurance carrier, recently opened a new 48,322-square-foot office in Dublin, Ohio. Central occupies the top two floors of a vibrant new development in Dublin. Its strategic location near major universities enhances their ability to compete for top talent from prestigious colleges. Taking inspiration from leading tech offices, Central’s office serves as a key recruiting tool, a space for community engagement, and a means of employee retention.

As the primary technology hub, this office needed to both honor Central’s cherished history, dating back to 1876, and represent the company’s innovation in technology solutions. NELSON’s interior and environmental design teams achieved this by incorporating references to Central’s fire insurance roots and forward-thinking design throughout the office.

It was important to Central to create a space that not only functioned as an office space for their employees but that could become a space for the greater community, so much so that it was decided to take on additional space to accommodate a large stadium staircase. The stadium seating can seat nearly 100 people for all-hands company meetings, community events, and other large-scale gatherings.

It was vital to provide Central with a highly flexible space to accommodate their frequent growth. This design not only reflects current office trends but also anticipates what is to come, aiming to engage broader communities so organizations can truly connect with those they serve.
