This approach focuses on creating environments that promote dignity and well-being for both inmates and staff. By integrating natural materials, ample lighting, and residential-like furnishings, these spaces become more conducive to positive behavioral outcomes and reduced recidivism. fireside MARKET Breaks Ground in Slinger, Wisconsin
Local and state dignitaries joined members of the Forest County Potawatomi community, Sagewind Development (a subsidiary of Potawatomi Ventures), NELSON Worldwide, and Windward Engineering to celebrate the groundbreaking of the first fireside MARKET in Slinger, Wisc. The market will bring high-quality, made-to-order food along with frictionless, technology-driven offerings to the community.
Part of a larger 130-acre Merchant Village development slated for the site, Sagewind is in contract for 5.1-acres to develop and open the market by Summer 2025. NELSON Worldwide, represented by Sarah Wooldrige and Rob Sullivan, is honored to be the architect of record on this project, which will play an important role in not only nourishing the surrounding community, but also creating full- and part-time jobs for area residents.
The Potawatomi are known as the “keepers of the fire” and to acknowledge the deep history of this community, our design team has specified an indoor/outdoor fireplace as a gathering place. Sustainability was also top of mind for this project, and the market will provide EV chargers, green space, recycling, local sourcing, and will incorporate solar power and skylights.
The Potawatomi tribe members opened and closed the ground breaking ceremony with a special drum circle. Check it out here.
