Icelandic Graphics for the Win
By: NELSON Worldwide
International travel is always exciting – a new and different culture, cuisine, and dialect. But that last one becomes a bit of a challenge for some destination hot spots when they are welcoming travelers from around the world. Iceland is one of those hot spots … a destination with actual hot spots, cliffs, glaciers, and waves. So how did they solve alerting all those varied travelers of the dangers to watch out for?! Graphics of course!
Utilizing bright colors that stand out from the surroundings, simple but direct line drawings and the occasional translated messages, these well-placed signs are able to alert a wide range of travelers to some of the dangers they need to watch out for while enjoying the amazing scenery surrounding them.
As a graphic designer myself I appreciate these simple, yet universal forms of communication. From a recent trip, here are some of my favorites (and remember to watch out for the Sneaker Waves)!
