Cascadia Daily News: Four Local/National Firms Selected to Design and Build New Justice Facility

NELSON Worldwide has been selected as lead designer, alongside Clark Construction, RMC Architects, and RAM Construction, to deliver Whatcom County’s new justice facility in Ferndale, Washington. Opening in 2028, the project will consolidate detention and behavioral health services into a modern, trauma-informed environment designed to support safety, rehabilitation, and long-term community needs. With a projected budget of $160–$174 million and capacity for 480–720 beds, the design-build partnership positions NELSON to shape a next-generation justice facility that prioritizes dignity, adaptability, and access to care.
