GDC-196 Georgia State Prison Site Adapt
Engineering a new benchmark for safety, security, and rehabilitation in modern justice environments.
NELSON Worldwide is redefining the future of justice environments with this landmark 850,000-square-foot correctional campus. Representing a transformative $750 million investment in state infrastructure, the project serves as a prototypical site-adapt model designed to replace aging facilities with a purpose-built environment that prioritizes safety, security, and rehabilitation. In collaboration with HDR Architecture, Inc. and Jericho Design Group, NELSON is spearheading this large-scale development utilizing a CMAR delivery method to ensure seamless collaboration and maximum cost-efficiency throughout every phase of the project.
The design accommodates 1,910 Level 4 and 5 maximum-security residents within a layout that balances the rigors of a secure environment with evidence-based principles that promote well-being and operational excellence. By integrating innovation and sustainability, the facility addresses the complex, evolving needs of modern institutions while fostering positive outcomes for staff, residents, and the surrounding community. This project stands as a benchmark for the industry—proving that high-security infrastructure can be both highly functional and a catalyst for meaningful change.
