National Future’s Association (NFA) New York
A modern workplace designed for flexibility, collaboration, and innovation
National Futures Association’s (NFA) New York office relocation required a major pivot at the start of the pandemic, prompting our team to anticipate the future of the workplace and adapt its design to follow suit. In conjunction with CBRE’s workplace strategy team, the NELSON team addressed several challenges including a reduction in square footage and a hybrid work schedule. NELSON used meticulous planning and data collection to optimize NFA’s new office space.
The organization wanted an office convenient to public transportation with versatile amenities and strong technology infrastructure. Ultimately, NFA’s goal was to cost-effectively create a people-first environment that employees would look forward to collaborating in every day. NFA selected a familiar location in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan and our team stepped in to infuse the organization’s mission, culture and forty-year-long history into the space.
Inspired by origami’s transformative nature, the design concept, The Fold, features dynamic geometries, natural light, and open sightlines. A mix of collaboration zones, private offices, and adaptable team rooms ensures efficiency and connectivity.
A custom-designed timeline wall and employee photo display celebrate NFA’s mission and people, while the café and training room foster engagement. This thoughtful, cost-conscious design reflects NFA’s commitment to integrity, innovation, and its 40-year legacy.
