The 110,000 SF Stevens County Justice Center in downtown Colville, WA, consolidates key county justice functions, including the County Jail, Sheriff’s Office, District and Superior Courts, and Prosecutor’s Office. The 144-bed jail provides housing for various security levels, including dedicated spaces for male and female populations, inmate workers, and special custody needs.
Additional support areas include a medical clinic, multipurpose rooms, kitchen, laundry, visitation, and intake/transport/release zones. Designed for operational efficiency, the facility minimizes staffing needs while maximizing natural light to create a secure yet humane environment.
The court facilities feature five courtrooms, judicial chambers, jury deliberation rooms, and court-level holding. The main lobby and public areas incorporate intuitive wayfinding and expansive natural light, enhancing the user experience while maintaining security through complete entry screening. NELSON Worldwide, in partnership with ALSC Architects, is providing comprehensive design services and justice consulting for this transformative project.
