YKK AP is a tech-oriented manufacturer of commercial facade systems and residential doors and windows. Working closely with the company to relocate and reimage their American headquarters located in Atlanta, Georgia, our design team was tasked with creating a space that will appeal to current and future employees.
YKK AP considers the environment in everything they do to provide a more sustainable future. With this in mind, a simplified color palette using white, black, grey, oak, and blue was inspired by nature and YKK AP branding. Finishes of exposed polished concrete, stainless steel in a waterfall island and backsplash application, mixed with warm, wood floors and wood slat ceiling baffles, along with a preserved green wall. The overall aesthetic balances modern with timeless elements and features a color palette that mimics warm earth-like tones and rich materiality.
With the need for private workspace and a public showroom and training area, our team developed two break out concepts. One is located at the entry nearest the largest conference, training, and product showroom. The second is a larger, more private break room with a suspended wood baffle grid system and space for employees to spread, unwind and socialize along a custom banquette overlooking Centennial Park. Altogether, the space’s experience and design elements prioritize health, wellbeing, and paying homage to the brand at every turn.
