NELSON is spearheading the transformative Nevada County Courthouse Reuse Project, providing a comprehensive assessment and vision for the potential adaptive reuse of this historic 1864 courthouse in downtown Nevada City, CA. In collaboration with community stakeholders and agency leaders, we are evaluating the courthouse’s current condition and determining the highest and best use for the existing Courthouse and Annex Building.
Our work includes a market and infrastructure analysis to explore redevelopment opportunities like housing, cultural, or educational spaces. Through strategic community outreach and best-use recommendations, we will deliver a final report guiding viable, long-term, community-aligned reuse options for this landmark property. The community is trying to create: “A beautiful and vibrant space that is viable, sustainable, and generates community pride.” NELSON will help them achieve this goal.
