We were challenged to renovate 745 Atlantic Avenue’s lobby and exterior, tied to the re-branding of the approximately 150,000 square-foot, 11-story commercial office building. Situated in the heart of downtown Boston’s Leather District, the landlord sought to draw the attention of new and potential residents.
The design reflects the building’s surroundings while borrowing cues from the city’s vast history. Unique finishes include wall oak sourced and repurposed from old wood pilings in Boston Harbor. A bright red reception desk, cold-rolled steel column covers, dramatic lighting, and flooring that resembles polished concrete give the space a clean industrial look.
A series of framed antique maps of Boston and contemporary interpretations of regional maps adorn the lobby, made prominent with cut metal and backlighting. The design of the space has been both a client and crowd favorite. With its new modern feel strongly rooted in local history, 745 Atlantic Avenue has become a premier address in Boston.
