Meet Rich Wilden, Mixed-Use Design Leader of the Alpharetta office. Rich will lead master planning and architectural design, leveraging his experience designing complex mixed-use projects and ability to conceptualize projects throughout the design phases, enhancing the capabilities of the NELSON brand.

Q:
What inspired you to get into architecture/design/engineering/the work that you do?

I always enjoyed art and drawing when I was growing up, which eventually led me to find architecture as my calling. My Dad was supportive since he viewed architecture as a noble profession, and he was worried I’d end up being some anti-establishment, hippie artist.

Q: What’s something people don’t know about you that they would be surprised to find out?

I’m a closet science nerd. As a matter of fact, I’m reading a book on the theory of antigravity. I can’t put it down.

Q: What is a quote or mantra you live by?

When I find myself believing I have mastered some specialized expertise, I like to remember something Walter Gropius said… “Specialists are people who always repeat the same mistakes”.

Q: What is one gizmo/gadget/tool that you think more people should know about?

Turn signals.

“I’m honored to rejoin the team and am looking forward to leveraging my expertise, skill sets, and unique design approach to add to the creative culture within the mixed-use team” – Rich Wilden
