University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center

We were challenged with designing the Cyberknife Room within University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The goal was to minimize the impact of large, intimidating medical equipment and deliver an approachable environment for patients.  

The layout of the room allows staff to safely perform their duties with advanced, cutting-edge technology, without overwhelming the patient. Warm finishes, furniture, and lighting controls soften the space during treatment, and most of the complex technological equipment is strategically placed out of sight in cabinetry and alcoves to make the patient feel more comfortable.
