The Monroe County Commissioners and the Judiciary are moving forward with a comprehensive project to renovate, modernize, and expand the historic Monroe County Courthouse. The need for these improvements has been established through a decade of study, driven by space limitations and an aging facility. CGL (now NELSON Worldwide) is handling the design services for the renovation and addition, preserving the historic elements while seamlessly integrating them with new construction. The project includes six state-of-the-art courtrooms, judicial suites, jury deliberation rooms, and central holding areas. The team is also renovating the 1970's annex and ensuring compliance with historic preservation guidelines. This initiative addresses current needs while maintaining the courthouse's historical significance.
