Stevens County Justice Center

The 110,000 SF Stevens County Justice Center is located in downtown Colville, WA adjacent to the historic courthouse and houses the County’s Jail, Sheriff, District and Superior Court, and Prosecutor spaces. The new jail component provides a total 144 beds with a mix of 24 bed male double cell minimum security pods; 24 bed male double cell medium security housing pods; single and double celled flex pods for the maximum security and special custody male populations; and flex pods for the female population. Additional support space includes housing for inmate workers, medical clinic, multipurpose/programs areas, kitchen, laundry, visiting, and intake/transport/release areas for adults and juveniles. The facility is designed to minimize staffing needs, provide extensive natural light within the staff and inmate areas, and provide a safe and secure environment for staff and detainees. The court components of the building include five criminal capable courtrooms designed to accommodate both civil and criminal proceedings, five judicial chambers, three jury deliberation rooms, judicial conferencing space and court level holding. The main lobby includes complete entry screening and in conjunction with the public lobbies throughout the building are designed with extensive natural light and views and provide for intuitive wayfinding to enhance the user experience. Nelson, in association with ALSC Architects, is providing comprehensive design services and justice consulting for the project.
