The Palm Beach Main County Courthouse was completed in the early 1990’s with two full shell floors housing a total of 80,000 SF for future expansion. An update to the 2017 Courts Master Plan was completed to extend caseload and personnel projections to 2045 and develop the architectural space program for 7th and 8th shell floors. The $30,000,000 buildout will accommodate space for the Courts, Court Administration, Case Management, and a Judicial Conference Center. NELSON provided design services for the court floor housing six new courtrooms (four criminal and two civil), six judicial chambers, four jury deliberation rooms, prisoner holding areas, and miscellaneous court support spaces. The new courtrooms include universal ADA accessibility and state of the art courtroom technology. The courtroom interior design features a palette of custom oak millwork and wall paneling, fabric covered acoustical wall panels, and a luminous ceiling in the well of the room to create bright and airy spaces.
